Carpentaria Shire to restrict air travel

Carpentaria Local Disaster Management Group – Air Closure Advice

The Local Disaster Management Group (LDMG) has taken the decision to further restrict the movement of non-essential persons into the Shire via Air Travel effective immediately to assist in reducing the risk of an outbreak or spread of a pandemic in Carpentaria Shire.

Air Travel will remain in place for essential travel only. The LDMG acknowledges it is a vital requirement for government and health officials to be able to continue to travel to our shire, especially during this time.

Any businesses and personnel requiring access via air travel will be required to complete the Air Travel Permit for approval to ensure accurate records can be kept and asks these people to adhere to the national standards of social-distancing, hygiene and self-isolation during their travels and once in our shire.

The LDMG management team will be working closing with REX airlines during this time to ensure the process for essential passengers is made as seamless as possible.

Chair of the LDMG Jack Bawden said “It is important, especially given the limited resources we have access to in our shire that we continue to work closely with key government and health officials travelling via air.”

“We are working closely with Rex airlines at this time to ensure we are able to effectively manage this enforcement”. “We understand these are unprecedented times that bring with it a lot of anxiety and uncertainty and we appreciate the communities support as we work through this,” said Jack.
