Doomadgee and Burketown host final 2021 Board meeting

Final NWQROC Board Meeting for 2021

Wrapping up another busy year, NWQROC held its final board meeting in Doomadgee and Burketown on 2-3 December. This was a great opportunity for attendees to travel to this wonderful corner of our region to meet face to face.

The two-day agenda provided a chance to hear updates from project partners, progress region-wide initiatives and set the course for NWQROC’s actions in 2022. Mother nature turned up the heat for visitors and had also delivered some good rain across parts of the region in the lead up to the meeting resulting in an interesting trip of contrasts through the running creeks and rivers between Doomadgee to Burketown.

NWQROC members were joined by representatives from the Queensland Reconstruction Authority (QRA), National Recovery and Resilience Agency, Mount Isa to Townsville Economic Development Zone, Qteq, Queensland Water, the Local Government Association of Queensland and the Queensland Department of Communities, Housing and Digital Economy.

Our thanks to Doomadgee Mayor Jason Ned and CEO Troy Fraser for the welcome, hospitality and tour of Doomadgee and to Burke Shire Mayor Ernie Camp and A/CEO Graham O’Byrne for the welcome to Burketown and hosting dinner at the Burketown Pub.

It was a most memorable visit to the neighbours of the North West and a great way to finish 2021 as we get set for a big year ahead in 2022.
