NWQ Liveability and Jobs Portal

Latest on this project - June 2024

NWQROC is working with RDA - Townsville & NWQ as it develops a new jobs and liveability campaign.

RDA Townsville and North West has been funded by the Department of State Development to develop the online portals to support workforce attraction and a regional lifestyle promotion campaign for the North West.

Over the past 12 months development work has involved extensive background research, information and data assembly from councils, identification of relevant individuals, organisations and businesses to engage and include in videos of successful attraction and retention case studies.

Progress is well advanced on the Jobs and Business Directory Portal with a preview and update on the Liveability portal provided to NWQROC at its 5 July online meeting.

Background

The Department of State Development, Infrastructure, Local Government and Planning (DSDILGP) is supporting RDA - Townsville & NWQ to develop a digital platform to support job creation and economic growth across North West Queensland (NWQ) in line with their NWQ Economic Diversification Strategy and Implementation Plan to 2025.

The digital platform will take the shape of a liveability website, a bespoke jobs platform and a custom business directory for NWQ. The sites will include NWQROC’s local government areas of Mount Isa, Cloncurry, McKinlay, Richmond, Flinders, Burke, Doomadgee, Carpentaria Croydon, and Etheridge.

The sites will provide a channel to streamline resources for business and industry, stakeholders, employers, job seekers and people looking to move to the region. The sites will also provide a marketing resource for councils, stakeholders and businesses within the region featuring key information about each LGA, images and inspirational video stories from locals. The sites will align closely with Live North Queensland and Jobs North Queensland sites.

Officers from member councils will work with RDA to bring together content, support development and approvals.
